PSPS College for Women celebrates National Mathematics Day
JAMMU, DECEMBER 27: Department of Mathematics, Padam Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu celebrated National Mathematics Day.
Principal of the College, Prof Minu Mahajan was the chief guest at the event. The program started with ‘Saraswati Vandana’. Dr. Rahul from the Department of Music presented the song ‘zero diya mere Bharat ne’. The Chief Guest encouraged the students to cultivate interest and passion towards the subject.
Dr. Renu Anand, HoD, Department of Mathematics and convener of the event formally welcomed the guests and briefed the achievements of legendary Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal, GCW Bhagwati Nagar and Dr. Shally Gupta, HoD, Department of Mathematics were the resource persons of the event. They enlightened the students about the life and work of the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and also about the various career opportunities in the field of Mathematics.
About 500 students attended the event and 20 students spoke on the achievements of various Indian Mathematicians through Power Point Presentation. Prof. Safia Sheikh, Dr. Rupinder Kour, Prof. Puja Parihar, Prof. Anupma, Prof. Anuradhaand Dr. Pooja Charak also graced the event.
Vote of thanks was presented by Kritika. The organising committee included Dr. Anshu Sharma and Dr. Nidhi Suri from the Department of Mathematics.
