PSPS College for Women organises workshop on library e-resources, awareness workshop on Safer Chemistry Labs
JAMMU, May 03: Department of Sociology of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women Gandhinagar, in collaboration with Department of Library Sciences, Mentoring Committee and College IQAC organised a one day workshop on the theme “Library e-resources: N-list and Delnet” here on the College Campus.
Principal of the College, Prof. Minu Mahajan was the chief guest of the occasion.
The Principal appreciated the departments for organising different student welfare programmes. The formal welcome address was presented by Dr. Suraj Mohani Jamwal, H.O.D, Sociology. She stressed on the importance of a knowledge seeking approach for students and advised them to always know the best ways to access the resources available for them.
The resource person of the event, Sonika, Librarian (GCW, Gandhinagar) elaborated on the various library e-resources especially N-list and Delnet. N-list provides access to e-resources to students, faculty and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET center. She gave a detailed presentation on the various steps to be followed on N-list and Delnet for accessing the books, magazines, articles, journals and other sites for their academic excellence. She also highlighted the functioning and importance of e-Granthalaya 4.0.
The students put various queries which were also satisfied by the resource person and her team. Around 60 students participated in the workshop.
Prof. Ajaz Ahmed Lone (Co-ordinator, Mentoring Committee), Prof. Anuradha Choudhary, Prof. Paramjeet Singh, Pankaj Talashi, Prof. Ishfaq Ahmad Lone were present on the occasion.
The proceeding of the event were conducted by Shabnam Anjum (B.A 2nd semester).
Meanwhile, the Department of Chemistry of the College organised “one day awareness workshop on Safer Chemistry Labs” for the staff (teaching and non teaching).
Prof. Minu Mahajan, Principal of the College, was the chief guest on the occasion.
In her address, the Principal congratulated the department for organising the workshop having practical utility as it is important to orient the members with safe handling of different chemicals.
Malti Rajput, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry was the resource person. She apprised the staff about the do’s and don’ts in the Chemistry labs. She also explained in detail about the safety measures and first aid measures to be taken in the labs.
The workshop was attended by both teaching as well as non teaching staff comprising Dr. Anjana Gupta( HOD), Dr. Indu Khajuria, Dr. Deepika Gupta, Dr. Shally Chadha, Prof. Anju Bala, Prof. Sweety Verma, Prof. Aran Kumar, Prof. Malti Rajput, Dr. Revika Arora, Sama Bashir, Shally Sharma, Hemraj, Ganesh and Amit.
