PSPS Govt PG College for women celebrates National Voters’ Day- 2023
JAMMU, JANUARY 24: The Department of Political Science, in collaboration with IQAC of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government P.G College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu celebrated the ‘National Voters Day’ under the banner of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ This day is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the Election Commission of India.
The programme was held under the patronage of Prof. Minu Mahajan, the Principal of the College. She applauded the role of Election Commission of India in conducting free and fair elections and importance of voting in democratic Nation – state.
Prof.Yash Pal (Convenor, IQAC), Prof.Mamta Gupta (Dean, Commerce), Prof Kamlesh Salathia ( Convenor, Science) Prof Mala Bhasin ( staff Secretary) graced the event.
Ashpreet Kour of Semester 3rd (Arts) in her welcome address said that the National Voters’ Day is celebrated to raise awareness among Youth about his/ her voting rights.
Shruti Arora of Semester 3rd (Arts) read the Voters Day pledge, wherein all the staff members and students joined her. Shambhavee Sharma of Semester 3rd (Arts) addressed the gathering. She mentioned that this day is observed to spread awareness among voters for active participation in the electoral process.
As many as 32 students of Semester-3rd (Department of Political science) presented a skit to sensitise staff and students about importance of Voting and National Voters Day.
The Members of the organizing committee Dr Pooja Charak (HOD), Prof. Paramjeet Singh, Dr.Harmeet Singh, Dr.Vandana Sharma and near about 150 students along with other College staff members were also present.The program concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ashpreet Kour.
