Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja hits out at Kangana Ranaut over her remarks on farm laws
Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], September 24 (ANI): Following Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut’s controversial statement on farm laws, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja criticised the actress, stating that she is “habitually controversial.”
Raja’s sharp rebuke came after Ranaut suggested that the three farm laws that were repealed following prolonged farmer protests should be reinstated.
“I think she is mentally unstable. Some people are accustomed to creating controversy, and the BJP benefits from her statements. She talks about farmers, Punjab, the Emergency, and Rahul Gandhi. There are other MPs who never make such remarks,” said Raja.
Ranaut had commented, “I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand it.”
Responding to her remarks on Rahul Gandhi, Raja said, “Kangana wants to involve herself in every matter. She made comments about Rahul Gandhi, but what has he said that’s wrong? Many like Kangana and Ranveer Singh Bittu have come and gone, but the Congress still stands strong.”
Earlier, on September 20, Ranaut had criticised the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for remarks made during his US visit, accusing the Congress of being willing to divide the country to gain power.
“Certain fringe groups are being instigated. The kind of things Rahul Gandhi says about the country when abroad are well known. His feelings towards the nation are not hidden. He doesn’t hesitate to divide the country for power,” Ranaut told ANI.
On Monday, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh also criticised Ranaut for her remarks against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, demanding an apology and challenging her to substantiate her allegations or face legal action.
Singh stated that even an “illiterate person” would not make such claims.
“Not even an illiterate person would say such things. She must either provide evidence or apologise within a week, or we will file a defamation case. The BJP should take note of this matter,” said Vikramaditya Singh.
This followed Ranaut’s allegation that the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government had taken loans and diverted funds to Sonia Gandhi.
