Punjab: Elderly man killed by neighbour over dispute, probe underway

Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], August 21 (ANI): An elderly man was killed after being hit with bricks by his neighbour over a dispute on a wall-repairing issue, said the Ludhiana police on Monday.

The incident took place in the Dhanansu village in Ludhiana, Punjab.

The deceased was identified as Santokh Singh.

“The neighbours were repairing a wall of their house. And the debris was falling on our premises. When my father went to them to complain about this, they started hitting them with bricks”, said the deceased’s son, Jaswant Singh while speaking to ANI.

In addition, Singh claimed that his neighbours were involved in drug peddling.

“The neighbours were involved in drug peddling. My father used to stop them so they were already angry with him over this” said Jaswant Singh.

The police said that an FIR has been registered into the matter and a probe is underway.

“The accused had fled away before the police reached the spot. A search is underway to arrest them. An FIR has been registered against them. And the body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem”, said Rajinder Singh, Investigating Officer while speaking to ANI.

Further details are awaited.
