Punjab Police bust drug smuggling racket, arrest four persons with 3 kg heroin, cash
Chandigarh (Punjab ) [India], December 12 (ANI): Punjab Police busted a drug smuggling racket with the arrest of four persons and recovered 3 kg heroin and Rs 9 lakh money from their possession, said Commisioner of Police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar here on Tuesday.
Those arrested have been identified as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky of Lohgarh in Amritsar, Rashpal Singh of village Hoshiar Nagar in Amritsar, Gourav alias Kali of Varyam Singh Colony in Amritsar and Sahil Kumar alias Manthan of Durgiana Abadi in Amritsar.
Apart from seizing heroin, Police teams have also impounded their Innova car in which they were going to supply the heroin consignment.
CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that following reliable inputs Police teams conducted a special police check in the area of Gol Bagh backside Railway Station Amritsar and arrested all the four accused persons when they were going to deliver the heroin consignment in their Innova car.
CP Bhullar said that the arrested accused Rashpal Singh has already been facing two criminal for theft and NDPS act at Amritsar Rural and Tarn Taran.
Further investigations are being conducted to probe the backward and forward linkages and unearth the whole network of drug suppliers, dealers and their buyers, he said, while adding that efforts are being made to ascertain the total amount of narcotics procured by the arrested accused to date.
An FIR has been registered under sections 21-C, 27-A and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station D Division in Amritsar.
