Punjab Police bust terrorist module; two arrested

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], October 17 (ANI): Punjab police averted targeted attacks in the state bordering Pakistan by busting a terrorist module with the arrest of two operatives and seized one pistol and 10 live cartridges from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.

Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested operatives are backed by Pakistan-based terrorist Rinda and operated by US-based gangster Happy Passia.

“In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police have averted targeted attacks with the arrest of two operatives of a terror module backed by Pak-based terrorist Rinda and operated by US-based Gangster Happy Passia,” Punjab Director General of Police posted on X.

“State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali has recovered one pistol along with 10 live cartridges from their possession. Major blow to terror module attempting to disturb peace in Punjab. Punjab Police India striving to make Punjab secure and safe as per the vision of CM Bhagwant Mann,” the Director General of Punjab Police added.

Earlier on Saturday, the Punjab Police in a joint operation with Central Agencies thwarted a possible terrorist attack in the border state by busting a terrorist module with the arrest of two operatives, said DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, in a press release.

According to the official release, the terrorist module is backed by the militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and is being handled by Firdaus Ahmed Bhat, an active member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The press release further mentioned that the apprehended individuals have been identified as Uzair Ul Haq of Rahpora Khudwani in Jammu & Kashmir and Raj Mohammad Andleeb of Kherwan in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Police have also recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two hand grenades, one .30 bore pistol along with two magazines and 24 cartridges, eight detonators, one timer switch and four batteries from their possession, said the official statement.
