Raising Awareness in Private Schools: Leh Hosts One-Day Orientation Programme on School Health and Wellness
LEH, May 03: Today, Leh witnessed a groundbreaking one-day orientation programme aimed at empowering principals of private schools on crucial health and wellness initiatives. Hosted by esteemed professionals including SIO Ladakh, Dr. Iqbal Ahmad, Stanzin Angmo, RKSK State Consultant, and representatives Essar Batool and Tashi Angmo, the event focused on enlightening school leaders about pivotal programmes such as Ayushman Bharat, School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP), and Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA).
Dr. Iqbal Ahmad, State Immunization Officer, Ladakh, delivered an enlightening presentation delving into the comprehensive aspects of Ayushman Bharat, the School Health and Wellness Programme, and the roles and responsibilities of school principals. Topics ranged from the release of operational guidelines and resource materials to the selection criteria for health and wellness ambassadors and the importance of addressing adolescent anemia. The session provided a detailed roadmap for implementing health and wellness initiatives within schools.
Stanzin Angmo, RKSK State Consultant, shed light on the Rashtriya Kishor Shasthya Karyakram (RKSK), emphasizing the significance of adolescent health and outlining key components such as adolescent-friendly health clinics, peer educator programmes, and menstrual health schemes. Angmo stressed the collaborative effort needed to achieve the shared goal of adolescent health and wellness.
Furthermore, Essar Batool and Tashi Angmo presented insights into the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), elucidating its overview, key design principles, benefits, and integration with public programs. Their presentation provided a comprehensive understanding of how ABHA can revolutionize healthcare access and affordability.
