Rajouri Police books notorious criminal under PSA, 3rd detention in a week

In a bid to crack down on notorious criminals and curb their unlawful activities, Rajouri police has booked another repeat offender under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). Amjad Mehmood, son of Mohd Zafar and a resident of Bada Kana, Tehsil Thanamandi, Rajouri, has been detained under PSA for his repeated criminal activities that pose a serious threat to public order.

Despite facing multiple FIRs and arrests, Amjad Mehmood continued to engage in burglaries, thefts, and extortion across different parts of Jammu & Kashmir, especially in Rajouri District. He has been involved in numerous cases, prompting the authorities to take preventive custody.

The detention order was issued by the District Magistrate Rajouri, and a police team led by SHO Thanamandi Hilal Azhar executed the order under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed.

SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh (IPS), reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the district. He stated that the detention of notorious criminals is a crucial step to thwart further unlawful acts, and numerous such detentions have been made in recent times with unwavering support from the public.

This marks the third such detention in the current week, as the authorities continue their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
