Rajouri police launches dedicated cyber cell at PS Rajouri to combat online crimes

In a bid to combat the rising threat of cybercrime, the Rajouri Police on Friday inaugurated a dedicated cyber cell within the premises of Police Station Rajouri. The initiative aims to provide swift and professional response to cybercrime complaints while ensuring thorough investigations.

The inauguration ceremony was led by SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh (IPS), who emphasized the importance of this initiative in light of the increasing prevalence of cybercrime. The decision to establish cyber cells in district headquarters stems from the recognition of the difficulties faced by residents of remote areas in reaching Jammu to report such crimes.

This newly established cyber cell boasts modern infrastructure, including high-speed internet and data connectivity, to facilitate round-the-clock detection and prevention of cybercrime. Its purview encompasses a wide range of offenses, including banking frauds, hacking, online harassment, fake social media accounts, cyber threats, and crimes covered under the Information Technology Act 2000.

To further enhance accessibility and awareness, the cyber cell has established a dedicated email address (Cybercell-rajouri@jkpolice.gov.in) for online complaint registration and a public information telephone number (9541900755). Additionally, the cell is staffed with trained personnel, with the option to engage external cybercrime experts if necessary.

The Rajouri Police is also committed to raising awareness about cybercrime and preventive measures.

This initiative by the Rajouri Police demonstrates a proactive approach towards tackling the growing menace of cybercrime in the region. By offering accessible and efficient services, the cyber cell aims to deter criminal activity and ensure a safer online environment for residents.
