Ramban admin celebrates National Statistics Day; Deliberates on BBBP as case study
RAMBAN, JUNE 29: The District Administration Ramban, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, celebrated ‘National Statistics Day here today, to recognize the contribution of Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, the renowned Indian statistician and economist, and to raise public awareness, particularly among the youth, about the importance of statistics in strategic planning, economic development, and policy-making.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Use of data for decision-making” to emphasize the importance of data-driven decision-making for informed policies.
The event was held at the Conference Hall of DC office complex Maitra, under the supervision of Chief Planning Officer Ramban Shakeeb Ahmed Rather. The program witnessed the presence of many District level and Sectoral officers, besides officials dealing with Planning, Statistics and Evaluation. ACP Ramban Ashfaq Khanji, DSEO Ramban Ganesh Kumar, District Information Officer Ramban Mohammad Ashraf Wani, and DSWO Ramban Rahul Gupta remained present during the whole session and participated in the fruitful exchange of opinions.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was taken as a case study to discuss the relevance of Planning and Evaluation of Data in bringing inclusive development in the society. In the event, CPO Ramban, Shakeeb Ahmed Rather successfully attempted to present the use of various Statistical techniques being used for the mega centrally Sponsored Scheme BBBP in District Ramban. The increase in Sex Ratio at Birth is a crucial indicator for success of such schemes and use of Statistical techniques is effective for the success of the scheme, he added.
DSWO Ramban Rahul Gupta thanked the CPO Ramban for the one day informative session aimed to rope in statistical techniques for CSSs executed by departments of Social Welfare.
