Ramban: Animal Husbandry Department organises awareness camp, Calf Show
RAMBAN, March 27: Department of Animal Husbandry organised an awareness camp at Kowbagh today. District Development Commissioner, Mussarat Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Vikas Gupta, PRIs, 85 animal breeders including female farmers attended the camp.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Suhail Jan Kawoosa and Panchayat Education Officer, Sajad Ahmad Bakshi were the main speakers. They informed the public about government schemes such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme and Integrated Dairy Development Scheme. They also encouraged unemployed youth to take advantage of these schemes to generate sustained livelihoods.
The public was informed about the benefits of Artificial Insemination using Frozen Semen Technology and the Sex Sorted Semen scheme for genetic improvement of local cattle breeds. They were encouraged to use Sex Sorted frozen semen technology from nearby Veterinary Centres for Artificial Insemination.
To boost local milk production, farmers were given free medicines, mineral mixtures and calcium. They were also informed about other beneficial schemes such as Kisan Credit Cards and Livestock Insurance.
A Calf Show was also organised with 20 calves participating.
The elected representatives present appreciated the department’s efforts to improve the socio-economic status of the public. They pledged their full cooperation in achieving the benefits of various schemes and requested that more such free camps be organised in future.
The DDC encouraged farmers to take advantage of government schemes to increase their income. He also advised them to form cooperative societies with the help of the department for sustained livelihoods.
