Ramban: Labour Department releases pending wages to worker
RAMBAN, March 27: Labour Department Ramban released pending wages to Javed Anjum, a construction worker from Thathri in the Doda district. The payment was for wages owed by the Power Grid Corporation of India’s Batote Wing. Assistant Labour Commissioner, Sushant Mahajan presented Anjum with a cheque for the amount in his office.
Sushant Mahajan emphasised the importance of providing support and guidance to construction workers and highlighted various government initiatives to ensure their welfare. These include health and safety measures at work sites and a database of registered workers to ensure timely support.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner also stated that the government is running several schemes for the welfare of building and construction workers. The aim is to regulate employment and conditions of service and provide safety, health, and welfare measures for registered workers.
He appealed to construction workers who have not yet registered with the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) to do so immediately and take advantage of the government’s various welfare schemes.
