Ramban observes World No Tobacco Day

RAMBAN, MAY 31: ‘World No Tobacco Day’ was observed across the district Ramban under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, to sensitize people, especially youth, about the dangers of tobacco use.


Awareness events on World No Tobacco Day were held in the health and educational institutions, focusing on this year’s theme of “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference.”


At CHC Batote, detailed lectures were delivered by BMO Dr. Opinder Singh, Medical Officer, Dr. Puneet Singh , Dr. Neha Mahajan and Health Educator Yasir Ullah on the tobacco industry’s new tactics to attract children. They spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco and urged the audience to disseminate this information further.

Individuals addicted to smoking were encouraged to quit, with assurances from the doctors to support them in their journey to quit smoking.


The observance of World No Tobacco Day in Ramban was an effort towards educating the public and protecting future generations from the harms of tobacco.


Additionally, children from IDPS led a huge rally through the main Gool market, spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco. Their efforts were applauded as they promoted a healthier, smoke-free community.
