Ramban: Special Camps held in Degree, professional colleges for enrolment of prospective voters
Camps at Higher Secondary Schools, Polling Stations to be held on April 29, 30
RAMBAN, April 28: The District Election Department Ramban, under the aegis of District Election Officer, Mussarat Islam, today organised Special Camps at all Government Degree Colleges, Industrial Training Institutes and Government Polytechnic Colleges of district for registration of the eligible students, having attained the age of 18 years or more, as voters so that no eligible voter is left without registration.
The institutions where these Special Camps were organized were Government Degree Colleges, Ramban, Batote, Ukhral, Banihal, and Gool, Government Industrial Training Institutes, Ramban, Banihal and Gool, besides Government Polytechnic College, Chanderkote.
Interacting with participants at various locations of Special Camps, the DEO informed that the Election Commission of India has devised a plan for organizing Special Camps at all Degree and professional colleges on April, 28, at all Higher Secondary Schools on April 29 and at all Polling Stations on April 30, adding that the main objective of organizing these camps was to pay focus on registration of all eligible youth as voters in the district.
Directions have been passed to EROs, and AEROs to ensure organization of Special Camps in all the Degree and professional colleges in their respective jurisdictions, the DEO said and added that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Supervisors shall also remain available at all educational and vocational institutions with adequate number of requisite forms to facilitate the eligible youth for registration as voters. He said that correction in particulars of voters and objections against any wrong inclusion in the electoral may also be done in the Special camps during the ongoing Special Summary Revision. The initiative shall go a long way in making the healthy and error free electoral roll, he added.
Besides, collection of filled forms in the Special camps, the EROs, and AEROs also delivered lectures and sensitized the prospective voters about the importance of votes and right to franchise.
