Rana asks for streamlining water supply in Jammu city
Exhorts officers for upgradation of filtration plants
JAMMU, DECEMBER 17: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, today exhorted upon the officers of Jal Shakti to streamline water supply in Jammu city besides ensuring prompt response to issues raised by local Legislators.
Javed Rana was chairing an officers meeting held at Civil Secretariat here to review the water quality issues in different areas of Jammu city.
Present in the meeting were MLAs Ch Vikram Randhawa and Arvind Gupta besides Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of all wings of Jammu division and other concerned officers.
The Minister emphasised the need for faster execution and completion of works while advocating enhanced coordination among all stakeholders on this account. He asked the officers to work earnestly towards extending quality services to the people besides ensuring prompt redressal of grievances related to water quality.
Maintaining that he will be personally monitoring the water supply and water quality issues, Rana said that lackadaisical approach will not be tolerated on this account. He asked for providing adequate supply of quality water to the people with focus on areas facing supply shortage.
The Minister expressed dismay over the defunct overhead water tanks in certain areas saying that extra efforts have to be put in to make them functional immediately for benefit of public.
Javed Rana asked the officers for upgradation of filtration plants besides enhancing sanitation facilities around filtration plants and tube wells. He also asked them to expedite the tendering process for approved works.
Legislators Ch. Vikram Randhawa and Arvind Gupta highlighted several measures required to further strengthen the water supply scenario in Jammu city.
During the meeting, the officers of Jal Shakti were also directed to inform the public in case of supply breakdown and keep the requisite machinery standby if regular one fails.
