Reasi police arrest notorious drug peddler, seize 21 kg poppy straw in Operation Jeevandan
Reasi Police, under their ongoing Operation Jeevandan against drug abuse, arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a massive 21 kilograms of poppy straw.
During a routine check at a police station in Katra, officers intercepted Suresh Kumar, alias Bantu son of Lt. Sansar Chand R/O Ward No.12, Mathyal, Katra. A search revealed he was carrying approximately 21 kg of poppy straw.

In this case, FIR No. 116/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigations started to unearth forward and backward linkages. The operation was led by Inspector Nishant Gupta, SHO Katra, under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Surinder Singh Baloria.
Speaking on the operation, SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, IPS, highlighted the multi-pronged approach Reasi Police is taking to tackle drug abuse. Awareness programs are being conducted across the district, while drug peddlers are consistently apprehended under the NDPS Act. An Anti-Drug Helpline (9070907017) has also been launched, assuring anonymity to callers.
SSP Sharma delivered a stern message to drug peddlers, stating there is no tolerance for their activities in Reasi. They are urged to abandon this destructive path and return to society. Strict action will be taken against those who continue to peddle drugs.
