Reasi police nab bootlegger during surprise naka, seize illicit liquor
Reasi Police, continuing their efforts under Operation Jeevandan against drug abuse and illicit liquor, arrested a man and seized illicit liquor from his possession.
The police party laid a surprise naka at Kambal Danga. When they spotted a suspicious person trying to flee, they chased and apprehended him. The person, identified as Baijnath (son of Radheyshyam Nausad) from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was carrying 52 quarters of JK Special Whiskey.
An FIR (No. 75/2024) under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi. An investigation is underway to identify those involved in the smuggling ring.

Sharing the details, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma informed that the Reasi Police is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to tackle drug abuse. Awareness programs are being conducted throughout the district, while drug peddlers and liquor smugglers are being arrested regularly under the NDPS Act. Additionally, an Anti-Drug Helpline (9070907017) has been established for the public, where confidentiality is assured.
SSP Sharma issued a stern warning to drug peddlers and liquor smugglers, stating there is no place for them in Reasi. They are urged to abandon their activities and return to the mainstream, or face strict legal action.
