Reasi police thwarts bovine smuggling attempt; 25 cattle rescued, 2 held
Reasi police, in a swift operation under the ongoing “Operation Dhenu” campaign against bovine smuggling, apprehended two individuals and rescued 25 animals in the Channa area.
Acting on a tip-off received by the Police Station Chassana, a team was immediately dispatched to the spot. Upon arrival, the team found the accused attempting to transport the cattle on foot towards Kashmir for illicit sale. The suspects, identified as Mohd Iqbal, son of Mohd Shafi from Tuli Masal Tehsil Chassana District Reasi, and Mohd Kabir, son of Mohd Maneer from Budhal Tehsil Bokori District Rajouri, were apprehended without resistance.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA Act) at the Chassana Police Station. An investigation is underway to uncover potential associates involved in the smuggling ring.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Mohita Sharma commended the efforts of the police team and highlighted their multi-pronged approach to tackle bovine smuggling. She assured the public that the Reasi Police will continue their relentless pursuit to eradicate this menace from the region.
