“Received a threat letter from ‘Manuwadis’ recently,” says Priyank Kharge
New Delhi [India], March 28 (ANI): Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, Karnataka Minister and Congress leader Priyank Kharge on Thursday lashed out at the Kalaburagi MP Umesh G Jadhav and said that he has received a threat letter saying that the Dalits must not indulge in politics.
“The Kalaburagi MP has been saying that there should be free and fair elections in Kalaburagi. I am not sure what he means by free and fair election and collapse of law and order in Kalaburagi,” he said.
Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for misusing central agencies, he said, “When the entire CBI, ED, IT and the EC are with them, I don’t know what his apprehensions are.”
“And more importantly, recently again I have received a threatening letter from ‘Manuwadis’ saying that Dalits should not be speaking out this loud. Dalits should not enter politics and Dalits should not climb the ladder of society. And if you continue to speak out we will have to ensure that we encounter you,” he added.
The Congress leader further stated about taking the help of the police in this regard. “FIR has been lodged in the case,” he added.
It is noteworthy that Karnataka, which has 28 Lok Sabha seats, will vote in two phases on April 26 and May 7. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and JD-S fought together against the BJP and the combine was decimated. The BJP had won a record 25 seats; Congress and JD-S won just one seat each.
The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be held in seven phases, starting on April 19. The counting of votes is on June 4.
