Republic Day celebration arrangements reviewed at Samba

SAMBA, DECEMBER 22: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma spearheaded a crucial meeting today, to finalise preparations for Republic Day 2024. It was informed that the event is to be held at Rani Suchet Singh Stadium Samba as per past practice.

The meeting discussed threadbare the issues with regard to the security arrangements, traffic regulation, seating arrangements, decoration, Power and water supply, transport arrangements, sanitation, invitation cards, Barricading at venue of the function and other vital issues.

The DC reviewed the security related arrangements being put in place by the police department. The PDD and Jal Shakti Departments were directed to ensure proper management of power and drinking water facilities by provisioning water tankers at the venue. The CMO was asked to ensure proper medical facilities along with staff and ambulances at the venue.

The DC provided necessary directions to ensure foolproof arrangements, including the establishment of a contingency plan for potential rainy weather conditions and specific considerations for celebrations near Shilaphalkam at panchayat level, along with the felicitation of martyrs and brave hearts.

Emphasizing inclusivity, DC Samba directed all departments to ensure  saturation of government flagship schemes, leaving no one overlooked. Additionally, strict adherence to the Flag Code was stressed.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to work in close coordination for the smooth conduct of  Republic Day celebrations. He also directed the concerned officers to ensure proper screening of cultural items and select vibrant items for the celebration.

Addressing infrastructure concerns, the DC issued directives to the Public Works Department (PWD) to repair potholes along the route leading to the stadium.

SSP, Benam Tosh; ADDC Rajinder Singh; ADC Suresh Chander; CPO Kasturi lal; ACR Kusum Chib; and other senior officers from Police, Social Welfare, Jal Shakti, PDD, Information, Health, YSS and other concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
