Researchers Must Be Ascetic: Prof. Ramesh Pandey

Jammu, 28 Nov 2024: Under the aegis of the Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages, Central University of Jammu, under the mentorship of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, a special lecture was organized on “Indian knowledge tradition and research”. This lecture was given by Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, former Vice Chancellor of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi and a scholar of Sanskrit.

Addressing the researchers, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey said that research is not a subject but a vision. There is a problem at the root of research and the researcher finds a solution to that problem. For this, he needs special knowledge and guidance. This knowledge makes the researcher fearless. The researcher engaged in research ultimately becomes an ascetic and the fruit of his penance gives a positive form to the society. Silence has turned out to be the basic source of Indian knowledge. The stream of Vedas etc., which originated from this silence, is still flowing unhindered. During this, Prof. Pandey urged the researchers to achieve Purusharth. Explaining Dharma, he said that Dharma is that which is adopted and it is from this that the personality of a person is formed. He said that everyone should earn money only on the path of religion and the ultimate goal of everyone should be attainment of salvation. Before this, Prof. Pandey had an informal meeting with the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain.

Head of the Department, Prof. Bharat Bhushan welcomed Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey and honored him by presenting a memento. Associate Professor of the Department, Dr. Shashikant Mishra introduced Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, while Assistant Professor, Dr. Vandana Sharma presents a vote of thanks.  On this occasion, all other professors and research scholars of the department were present.
