Road Safety Awareness cum Education programme held at Leh

LEH, January 27: As a part of Road Safety Awareness month, Traffic Wing of Ladakh Police in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Bank conducted a session for Truck Union Leh today on January 27.

Divisional Transport Inspector (DTI) Leh, Parvez Ahmad presented the welcome speech and shared the road accident data of the last 3 years.

Deputy SP Traffic Leh, Mohd Baqir urged the drivers to obey traffic laws and rules to reduce Road accidents.

Similarly, Superintendent of Police Traffic Wing, UT Ladakh, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman shared invaluable insights into road safety, aiming to significantly reduce accidents and save lives and discussed about the new amendments in Motor Vehicle Act. He stressed the importance of spreading road safety protocols through awareness and educating people.

The focus was on essential road safety protocols and central government schemes.

Senior Manager, JK Bank, Toldan introduced several schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana for just ₹436, secure a Life Insurance cover of ₹2,00,000, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana open a Zero-Balance basic savings account and get a free accident Insurance cover of ₹2,00,000, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana with a minimal ₹20 premium, avail Accidental Insurance cover of up to ₹2,00,000 and Atal Pension Yojana for  secure a monthly pension between ₹1,000 – ₹5,000 post-retirement.

A total of  65 truck union members enrolled in these schemes, preparing for a more secure future.

President, Truck Union Leh expressed gratitude to Traffic Police Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Bank for their collaborative effort in organising this session for the Truck Union Leh.

Besides, executive members of truck union Leh and truck drivers were present on the occasion.
