Road Safety Week: On Road Driver Awareness drive held at Budgam
BUDGAM, January 13: Continuing the observance of National Road Safety Week, Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO), Budgam in collaboration with Traffic Police and Police Station, Budgam today conducted an on road awareness drive for drivers of both private as well as passenger vehicles.
Commendation Certificates in respect of 35 drivers were issued on the spot who were found wearing seatbelt/crash helmet and following other road safety rules during driving. Hundreds of Pamphlets depicting Do’s and Don’ts of Road Safety were distributed among drivers / pedestrians.
He said the United Nation has declared 2020-2023 as Decade of Action in order to bring down fatalities and Road Traffic Injuries and is working on 4 E’s Viz: Engineering, Enforcement, Education and Emergency Care and we are working on all aspects to achieve the goal.
Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad (ARTO) Budgam thanked all participants, departments for extending their support in organizing the event. He said similar drives will be conducted in future to achieve the goal of reducing Road Traffic Injuries and Fatalities.
