RTO Jammu books vehicles, suspends licenses, RCs, route permits
JAMMU, MARCH 14: Accelerating and intensifying enforcement activities against various violations under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules-1989, the team of Motor Vehicle Department launched enforcement drive under the guidance of Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO, Jammu and laid nakas at various locations of highways and recovered Rs. 2.87 lakh onspot and Rs. 3.12 is expected to be realized out of challans.
Vehicles were booked under various sections of Motor Vehicles Act and Rules.
Taking cognizance of prima-facie use of motor vehicles in commissioning of the offences of illegal transportation of live stock of animals and in view of violation and contravention of all provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, total 36 number of Route permits, 19 numbers of Registration Certificates have been suspended for three months.
The owners of these vehicles have been directed to surrender the driving license, Registration Certificates and Route Permits of the vehicles to the registering authority.
It has been further informed that Police and MVD authority have geared up to launch a major crack down on the bovine smuggling and owner of the vehicles found involved in illegal transportation of bovine animals.
Traffic violators have been cautioned not to repeat traffic violations, as department in future is in process of evaluating the driving skill on a scale of 10 points and every repeated violation shall deduct 03 points from the scale defined thereby leading to cancellation of driving license of violators.
The enforcement team was comprising of Esha Chib, Mohd. Saleem ARTO (HQ),Jammu, Pawan Sharma ARTO(G), Sh. Tara Mani Sharma, ARTO (Flying Squad), Motor vehicles Inspectors Rajeev Kundal, Anupam Gandotra and Ranjeev Bhasin and staff.
