JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla speaking at Chatha said that Congress is the only alternative available to the people in J&K and now the public has made up mind to bring back Congress to power. The people of Jammu have experienced that BJP has cheated them on different emotional slogans and false promises only to achieve power but back-tracked on all those issues for the sake of power. The BJP exploited the people on different slogans on the name of religion, regions and castes but it was a tool to seek votes through these emotional issues.

Bhalla said that Modi Govt failed in J&K and the prevailing political and security scenario is the example of total failure of the Central Govt which left erstwhile state in total chaos. He asked party rank and file to expose the misdeeds and failures of the BJP. Bhalla accused BJP Government of habitual in raking up controversies to divert the attention of the people from their failure to provide a credible Government in J&K. Government is creating controversies as per pre-planned strategy in order to keep the people engaged and to divert the attention of people from the utter failure of the Government in J&K.

In a democracy one needs an opposition irrespective of the party.  “Today BJP leaders are hesitant to listen to questions. You try to question them and they are scared of you. Opposition parties are the pillars of the democracy and any attempts to destroy it will come back to haunt them because no party will remain forever. There will be change as the time passes as the motives change, as the perception changes. So therefore, I think it is the responsibility of the ruling dispensation not to try to destroy the opposition,” Bhalla said.

At New Plot, Bhalla in his address accused the BJP-led central government of suppressing all opposition voices to “crush all sorts of genuine dissent” throughout country. He said the BJP’s philosophy of democracy is based on “no space to opposition.  It   had already given slogan of Congress-mukt Bharat (India free of Congress) whereas it has been attempting to crush all opposition forces. All those against the BJP are dubbed as threat to peace and against the national interess and detained,” Bhalla said. “This is a replica of a sick thinking which goes against the glorious traditions and fundamental provisions of our Constitution,” he said, apparently referring to the crackdown on opposition political parties.

JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma speaking on the occasion strongly raised the issue of PoJK refugees who feel cheated and betrayed. It was Congress party which had framed a package of PoJK and Chhamb refugees and forwarded to the Centre Govt but instead of Rs 30 lakh per family, only Rs 5.5 lakh per family was sanctioned by BJP Govt. but that too has been stopped. It is totally arbitrary and anti- refugee’s approach of Modi Govt, as large number of eligible families is still deprived of Rs 5.5 lakh installment while people were assured further installments.

Sawhney claimed  that history provides proof that the Congress Party made all out efforts to percolate the sense of responsibility, significance of the unity, sacredness of democratic values and its institutions as well as the sanctity of the constitution down to the grassroots level, added Sawhney. Modi government is hell-bent on ruining democratic values an Indian democracy. The BJP made tall promises during the election campaigns and now finding it different to fulfill those problems this government has moved strategy of why not to diverse the public attention from its failures, said Sawhney.

Amrit Bali speaking on the occasion said that ruling establishment today does not want to hear criticism, to hear an opposite voice. They want to implement their own agenda and then it wants to completely demolish the opposition. BJP’s idea is to demolish every particular institution which has a secular fabric. The idea is to come up with their own agenda and those people or institutions which do not tow their agenda, will be destroyed and they won’t have any space,” Bali said. He added that J&K has always been a laboratory for all these ills in politics. It has been a laboratory for BJP’s experiments.
