Samadhaan Foundation organizes “One Nation, One Election” Program at Samba

Pawan Sharma stressed the need to streamline India’s electoral process

SambaOrganized by Samadhaan Foundation, the “One Nation, One Election” program was a resounding success, bringing together prominent citizens of Samba representing various sections of society. The event was addressed by esteemed speakers, including Pawan Sharma, Senior BJP Leader, former State Secretary and Chairman Samadhaan Foundation, Advocate Naresh Raina, Akshay Bharti, Advocate Vikrant Mahajan, BJP Mandal President Samba, social activist Vikas Sambyal, Sanjeev Padha, former corporator Samba and social activist Sahil Bishnotra.

The program highlighted the need for simultaneous elections in India, a concept that has been gaining traction in recent years. As emphasized by the High-Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections, this approach aims to address logistical challenges, reduce costs, and minimize disruptions caused by frequent elections.

Pawan Sharma, in his address, stressed the importance of streamlining India’s electoral process. He noted that the current system, with its frequent elections, leads to significant expenditure, diversion of resources, and disruption of public life. Sharma advocated for a synchronized election cycle, where elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies are held simultaneously.

Advocate Naresh Raina’s address on “One Nation, One Election” likely provided valuable insights into the concept’s significance, benefits, and challenges. The idea of holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, State Legislative Assemblies, and local bodies has been a topic of discussion in India.

The event also saw discussions on the economic benefits of simultaneous elections. As pointed out by the Law Commission of India, holding elections simultaneously would lead to significant cost savings, reduced strain on administrative and security forces, and improved focus on development activities.

The program concluded with a call to action, urging the government to implement the recommendations of the High-Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections. The attendees pledged their support for the “One Nation, One Election” initiative, recognizing its potential to strengthen India’s democratic framework and promote good governance.
