Samba Admin holds awareness seminar to observe Intl Day against Drug Abuse
SAMBA, June 26: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed today by the office of the District Social Welfare Officer, Samba in collaboration with District Administration in the Conference Hall DC Complex Nandni Hills.
The programme was organized with an aim to make people aware of the harmful effects of drugs and to determine a society free of drug abuse especially among youth.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief guest Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba, briefed the participants about the launch of Nasha Mukht Panchayat Abhiyan in all the Panchayats of Samba district on the directions of the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. He also appealed the participants to deliver the message to common masses about the hazards of drug abuse. He encouraged the participants to be a part of campaign. He also informed the participants that there is a dire need to address reasons which provoke youth towards drugs.
Earlier, the event started with the Pledge Ceremony, Speeches by Students, Signature campaign and a Walkathon flagged off by Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, in the presence of Rajinder Singh, ADDC Samba, Subash Chander, Programme Officer ICDS Project Samba, Kewal Krishan, Chief Education Officer, Samba and other Officers and Officials of District Administration Samba.
