Samba Administration adopts Zero tolerance policy against illegal mining
SAMBA, JUNE 10: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Samba Abhishak Sharma, Department of Geology and Mining, headed by DMO raided multiple location in last 24 hours and apprehended several persons found indulging in illegal mining activities.
During the operation 2 JCB, 2 dumpers and 4 tractor trollies were seized and handed over to Samba Police for safe custody till the realisation of penalty. A mineral processing unit was also penalised to the tune of Rs 1 lakh for violating the norms.
Similarly Samba Police, under the guidance of SSP Samba, apprehended 4 tractor trollies in last one day and shared report with DMO for imposition of penalty.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu had categorically issued directions to all the districts to take stringent action against the violators so that menace of illegal mining was controlled. Giving more details, the DMO Samba disclosed that enforcement teams 64 vehicles were penalised in last two months which includes seizure and penalty on account of overloading and illegal dumping . A penalty to the tune of more than Rs 10 lakh has been recovered so far and many vehicles are yet to be released which will eventually increase the penalty amount.
