Samba: Block Diwas tackles road, education, healthcare concerns in Sumb
SAMBA, JANUARY 31: District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, addressed a range of public grievances at the weekly Block Diwas held today in Panchayat Ghar Patyari, Block Sumb. The platform facilitated focussed discussions and immediate action on issues related to infrastructure, education, healthcare, and more.
Locals prioritised demands for the construction of the Sumb-Goran Road and a Degree College, highlighting the need for improved connectivity and access to higher education. Restoration of the tractor road with a protection wall at Thandwal Goran, permanent doctor availability at PHC Sumb and site selection for NTPHC at Goran were also among the key concerns raised.
DDC displayed prompt action, resolving several issues on the spot. He directed immediate restoration efforts for the damaged wall and issued directives to expedite the construction of a Check Dam at Balater. The Executive Engineer was instructed to ensure completion of the JJM well at Paswal within three weeks.
Transportation woes in Sodam/Goran were addressed with specific directives for the ARTO, Samba, to regulate bus services. Persistent faults in PDD lines were tackled by deploying PDD officers to camp in Sodam and Goran for two days.
Reports of drinking water scarcity in Sanoor and Mansoor prompted swift action, with the Jal Shakti Department instructed to visit the affected areas. Additionally, DDC urged J&K Bank to fulfill the public demand for an ATM at Sumb/Blater.
The Block Diwas witnessed participation from DDC Vice Chairperson Balwan Singh, ACD Siddharth Dhiman, CMO Vidhi Bhutial, ExEn JJM Sandeep Gupta, ExEn JPDCL Javed Chaudhary and other senior officials.
