Samba Fort Hosts 5th UT Foundation Day Celebrations with Cultural and Historical Exhibits
SAMBA, October 31: The district administration Samba organized a grand event at the historic Samba fort today to mark the 5th UT foundation day. The event was attended by dignitaries such as DDC chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma, Vice DDC chairperson Balwan Singh, Padamshri Mohan Singh Salathia, DC Samba Abhishek Sharma, SSP Samba Benam Tosh, and Joint Director Tourism Ms Sunaina Mehta..
The event showcased the cultural and historical heritage of Samba district, which is home to many ancient monuments, temples, and art forms. The event also highlighted the transformation and development of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and the district Samba in the last four years
DC Samba .Abhishek Sharma addressed the gathering and said that Samba fort is a hundred-year-old fort of great historic value. He said that the fort has seen the ups and downs of the district and has witnessed its transformation. He said that efforts are being made to restore the fort to its old glory and preserve its heritage. He also said that old heritages like the art of calico printing are being revived and training is being imparted to the artisans for providing employment opportunities. He also remembered the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the integration of India and thanked everyone for participating.
DDC chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma also spoke on the occasion and remembered the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in integrating various princely states and forming one nation. He said that his contributions are countless and invaluable for the nation. He also praised the arrangements made by the district administration samba for the foundation day celebrations.
The event featured various activities such as department stalls, talent hunt, exhibitions of photography, paintings, and handicrafts items in collaboration with tourism department, cultural program by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages Sub Office Kathua, documentary screening of the transformation of the UT of J&K and the district Samba, nukkad natak on the theme of transformative change in J&K by RDD and social welfare department, distribution of appointment letters to job seekers by DC Samba, and distribution of certificates to artisans who underwent training for calico printing.
Ms Sunaina Mehta , Joint Director of Jammu Tourism also addressed the gathering and said that she is fully coordinating with the district administration for restoration, revival, and promotion of the tourism sites of Samba. She said that heritage and religious tourism sites like Baba Chamliyal, Rani Charka, Purmandal Uttarbehni, Baba Sidh Goria are being prioritized. She said that many good works have been done and many more are in progress.
The event was a great success and received appreciation from all quarters. The event was a testimony to the rich culture and history of Samba district and its potential for tourism development.
