Samba: Lok Adalat settles 2973 cases, realizes over Rs 2 crore as settlement amount

SAMBA, December 09: Under the insightful directions of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the radiant guidance  and overall supervision of  Yesh Pal Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba),  the 4th  National Lok Adalat of the Calendar year 2023 was organised today  here at ADR, Centre, District Court Complex.

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Yesh Pal Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba).

 Three Benches were constituted at District Court Complex for settling the referred cases (both Pre and Post Litigation) .

The  Bench No.1 was comprised Yesh Paul Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba)and Ms. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Samba; Bench No.2  consisted of Mr. Adnan Sayeed, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Samba and Ms. Himani Parihar, Munsiff, Samba; Bench No. 3 comprised Ms. Ananta Raina, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Samba and Ms. Urvashi Raina, Addl. Munsiff, Samba.

The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Bank Recovery matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Pre-litigation matters, D.V. Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, 125Cr.Pc., and Petty Offence(s) including  traffic challans.  Beside this two more Benches were constituted for settling Revenue Cases, Cases  under Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, all cases of petty loans pending in all revenue Courts including the Courts of Tehsildar of District Samba, all Petty Public Utility Services related Cases and all Compensation Cases pending in the Courts of Assistant Labour Commissioner Samba.

Ms. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba coordinated the National Lok Adalat .

A total number of  3178 cases were taken up for an amicable settlement out of which 2973 cases were settled and an amount of Rs  2,09,52,080/- was realized as settlement amount.

Besides this, a free medical camp was also organised by District Legal Services Authority Samba in collaboration with Department of Health, Samba at District Court Complex Samba which was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest.

 A team of Medical Officers comprising Dr. Amarjeet Singh ( Medical Officer), Dr. Rajesh Sharma (Ayush Medical Officer), Dr. Zahida ( Opthalmologist), Dr. Jasbir Singh (Sr. Pharmacist), Sahil Gupta (Lab. Tech) was deputed by the department of Health Samba for the medical camp. The medical team conducted a total of 161 OPDs which included BP Check up, HB Test, Blood Sugar tests, Eye checkup and   Ayush( medicines). The camp was attended by the Senior and other Advocates of Bar association Samba, representatives from different banks ( in prelitigation matters) Staff members of different Courts of District Court Complex Samba, Staff members and PLVs of DLSA Samba as well as  litigants who were present in the National Lok Adalat at ADR.

In addition to this, Felicitation Ceremony was also organised by District Legal Services Authority, Samba wherein the Legal Aid Practitioners (Panel advocates) and PLVs of DLSA Samba, students who participated in different programs organised by DLSA Samba in District Samba during the year 2023 were felicitated by the Chief Guest.
