Sanjita Dogra advocates for ‘One Nation, One Election’

JAMMU, MARCH 20: In an event organized by the Jammu Public Educational Trust President Santosh Sharma, Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha President, Sanjita Dogra, expressed strong support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance democratic efficiency and national unity.

Addressing the audience, including a substantial number of women, Dogra highlighted the historical context of simultaneous elections in India, noting that from 1952 to 1967, both Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections were conducted concurrently. She pointed out that this practice not only streamlined governance but also optimized resource utilization.

Sanjita Dogra elaborated on the multifaceted advantages of implementing ‘One Nation, One Election’.

She also addressed concerns regarding regional representation, asserting that synchronized elections would not dilute the significance of local issues but rather bring them to the forefront on a national platform.

The attendees, particularly the women present, resonated with Dogra’s insights, acknowledging the empowerment that comes with a more efficient electoral system. The interactive session that followed saw active participation, with many expressing their endorsement of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ concept as a means to fortify India’s democratic framework.

The event concluded with a collective call to action, urging policymakers to consider the implementation of simultaneous elections earnestly. The consensus was clear: a unified electoral process is a progressive step towards a more robust and cohesive nation.
