“Sanket Bawankule called for inquiry…confesses he was in car”: Nagpur DCP Rahul Madane
Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], September 10 (ANI): Nagpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rahul Madane on Tuesday said that Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s son Sanket Bawankule was called for inquiry and has confessed that he was present in the car when the luxury car allegedly hit several vehicles in Nagpur’s Ramdaspeth area.
“The incident occurred at 12.30 am on September 9. A white Audi, registered under the name of Sanket Bawankule, was involved in the incident. We have questioned all three occupants of the car. We arrested the driver, Arjun but he was later granted bail as it was a bailable offence…Their medical samples have been sent for FSL, report is awaited,” DCP Zone 2, Rahul Madane said, addressing a press conference.
“When we examined the vehicle, its number plate was there in it. There were three people in car – Arjun Hawre, Sanket Bawankule and Ronit Chittamwar…They (injured) were normal, their medical examination was done and nothing serious was found. Sanket Bawankule was called for inquiry and he has confessed that he was in the car,” he added.
The pictures of the Audi car show the impact of the accident after the car hit two other cars and a two-wheeler in Nagpur last night.
Earlier on Tuesday, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that proper action should be taken against the culprits after a speeding luxury car owned by the Maharashtra BJP chief’s son allegedly hit several vehicles in Nagpur’s Ramdaspeth area.
“By God’s grace, no one was injured and no casualties were reported in the accident. But several vehicles was damaged. I have said this yesterday also: whether the car is in the name of my son or a criminal, proper action should be taken against them. The police have given me the primary information. Justice should be equal to all,” Bawankule told ANI.
On Monday, a speeding luxury car owned by Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party chief’s son Sanket Bawankule allegedly hit several vehicles in Nagpur’s Ramdaspeth area.
The Sitabuldi police registered a case of rash driving against Arjun Haware, the driver of the car, and Ronit Chintanwar, who was sitting next to him.
“The car that caused the accident is registered in the name of Sanket Bawankule, son of BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule,” the police said.
In a post on X, the Maharashtra Congress posted the purported video of the incident and alleged that after the incident, the entire home department went to work to save and hide the boy.
“In Nagpur, the son of a senior BJP leader hit four to five cars in the middle of the night in a drunken state, after which the entire home department went to work to save and hide the boy. So is law and order only to torture the common people?,” the Maharashtra Congress posted on X with a purported video of the incident.
