Sat Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi felicitates roller-skating champions

JAMMU, January 03; Sat Sharma, President along with Yudhvir Sethi, MLA Jammu East, Narottam Sharma, ex corporator, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge and other senior leaders of party felicitated Kartikeya aged 21 and Puneesh aged 14 in presence of their father Ratnesh Puri.

Puneesh became national champion in a 62^nd RSFI national championship in speed skating held at Mysore, Karnataka from 5^th -15 December’2024. He received 2 gold and 1 silver in 1500-meter road race, 1000-meter ring race and 500-meter ring race.

Kartikeya earlier stood as no 1 ranked player in speed skating in whole nation in 2023 and had earlier received special cash reward of 1 lakh rupees from the LG of J&K.

Sat Sharma, while felicitating the young performers recommended their skill, and dedication, which enabled them to achieve the feat. He commended the youth of Jammu & Kashmir which has channelized their energies in the sports keeping their energies focused on the constructive works. He said that their achievements have made their parents proud and also brought laurels to the city and whole of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that these achievements also serve as the inspiration for the rest of the youth of Jammu & Kashmir to excel in their respective fields. He also called for the improved facilites in the sports complex for the budding players which will enable them to earn more medals of the region.

Yudhvir Sethi, while felicitating the Kartikey and Puneesh, stressed on the contribution of their father in their careers. He said that as the combined efforts, the both skaters are set to scale more achievements in their future competitions.

Narottam Sharma, said that the young players have made all proud with their hard work and achievements. Their efforts along with the dedication of their father has brought laurels to the family and region.

Dr Pardeep stressed on the need of complete technical staff, and state of art facilites for the sports persons to train professionally.

Kartikeya and Puneesh thanked the senior leadership of party for their gesture and requested for the increasing the facilities at the stadium like increasing the Bentrack Rink Size from 150 mtrs to 200 mtrs National / International level. Also, Road circuit to be made available for long Marathon races in the same game.
