Saurabh Bhagat meets MNRE; Discusses modalities for implementation of Biomass Programme in J&K
NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 10: Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Saurabh Bhagat, today discussed modalities for implementation of newly launched Biomass Programme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), approved under the umbrella scheme of National Bioenergy Programme Phase-I, in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit to the Capital, MNRE, Saurabh Bhagat had detailed discussion with S R Meena, Incharge Bio-energy, on several issues regarding setting up of one Bioenergy Pilot Project each in Jammu and Kashmir regions of the UT.
Pertinent to mention here that the National Bio-energy Programme comprises of sub schemes like ’Waste to Energy Programme (Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Wastes /Residues), Biomass Programme (Scheme to Support Manufacturing of Briquettes and Pellets and Promotion of Biomass (non-bagasse) based cogeneration in Industries) and Biogas Programme.
Commissioner Secretary also met in-charge Rooftop Solar Division, MNRE, Hiren Bora and updated the Ministry with the progress on the implementation of 20 MW and 200 MW cumulative capacities Rooftop Solar sanctions of MNRE and stressed for timely release of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the schemes.
During the discussion, Sourabh Bhagat updated the Ministry regarding various challenges and impediments being faced by JAKEDA in the implementation of the schemes. He requested the Union Ministry for allowing the empanelment of more vendors under the two sanctions as the targets to be achieved are huge.
