SBI donates bus to AIIMS Jammu under CSR Initiative

The State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public sector bank in India and a global financial services giant, upholds a commitment to corporate social responsibility. In a commendable demonstration of this ethos, SBI handed over a state-of-the-art bus to AIIMS Jammu as part of its CSR initiatives.

The official handover ceremony took place on November 10th, 2023 at the AIIMS Jammu present campus (Maheshpura chownk, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu) where the Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, Sh. Vinod Jaiswal and Deputy General Manager, SBI Sh. Ravinder Kumar Gupta handed over the keys to the Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu Prof. (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta in the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr Jitendra Singh (Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of  the Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Earth Sciences; in the Prime Minister’s Office; Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy; and Department of Space).

The occasion garnered praise from Dr Jitendra Singh, who acknowledged the collaborative effort between AIIMS and SBI stating, “This initiative exemplifies the essence of corporate social responsibility, and it is heartening to see institutions like AIIMS and SBI coming together to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.”

On this occasion, the honourable minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh released a book titled, “Handbook of Policies, Guidelines and Procedures” of significance within the Research by Research Section, AIIMS Jammu. This handbook strives to establish AIIMS Jammu as a leading centre for medical research on both national and global scales. This book highlights the importance of collaboration between institutions and an increasing emphasis on conducting trials across multiple centres. Serving as an invaluable reference guide, this handbook facilitates navigation through the intricate research landscape, streamlining processes, and providing researchers with the necessary tools to make substantial strides in both medical science and patient care.

He addressed the distinguished gathering saying, “Let us all embark on this journey with renewed vigour and dedication to our mission of providing quality education and healthcare. Together, we can make a difference that will resonate through generations.”

Prof. (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta expressed his gratitude towards Honourable Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh for sparing his valuable time and to grace the occasion. He appreciated SBI’s support in enhancing community services and the welfare of faculty and students.

He commented, “The availability of bus with AIIMS Jammu will facilitate extending healthcare services to underserved communities in remote areas by improving accessibility, outreach and community engagement. This bus will not just transport people; it will transport dreams, opportunities, and hope. It is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations come together for a common cause.”

He further added, “The bus will also cater to the convenience and safety of AIIMS faculty and students. Acts like this are a symbol of our shared values and the collective responsibility we have towards the well-being of our society.”

The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Deans, DDA (AIIMS Jammu), Financial advisor, faculty members, Account and Administrative officer of AIIMS Jammu and also by Sh. Kumar Jee Raina (Regional Manager, SBI).

The Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu Prof. (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta shared the Institute’s vision, emphasizing a commitment to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care that not only meets immediate healthcare needs but also considers the long-term well-being of patients, communities, and the environment.
