“Scam of around Rs 8,000 crore in awarding power project works, BRS leaders took crores of commission,” says Telangana CM Revanth
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 29 (ANI): Accusing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders of escorting crores of commission and indulging in a scam of around Rs 8,000 crore in awarding power project works, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday said that the BRS leaders are claiming they illuminated the state with abundant power generation. The decisions taken in the YSR regime helped to supply uninterrupted power in Hyderabad. The CM further pointed out that this was an act that clearly showcased that the assets created for power generation belong to the particular state only. Jaipal Reddy convinced the then-Centre that division should be done based on consumption and not generation.
“K. Chandrashekar Rao’s comments are akin to those of “Satya Harichandra ” on power agreements. The BRS leaders demanded a probe into the agreements entered with Chhattisgarh and for the construction of Yadadri and Bhadradri thermal power projects. The government accepted their demand. Now, the opposition leaders are accusing the Commission of not furnishing the details. They approached the Court without making their arguments before the commission. The Supreme Court made it clear that the investigation should continue by appointing a new Chairman to the Commission. The government will appoint a new Commission Chairman by this evening,” said the Chief Minister.
“The BRS leaders are claiming they illuminated the state with abundant power generation. The decisions taken in the YSR regime helped to supply uninterrupted power in Hyderabad. An act clearly says that the assets created for power generation belong to the particular state only. Jaipal Reddy convinced the then Centre that division should be done based on consumption and not generation. Telangana has been given a special exception which is not in the constitution. Jaipal Reddy played an important role in the distribution of 53.46 per cent of electricity to Telangana and 46.54 per cent to Andhra Pradesh. Telangana was saved from plunging into darkness,” the CM stated further.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that Thousands of crores of fraud took place in awarding works. Fearing the truth would come out in the investigation, the BRS leaders started misleading people. Adding to that he stated, “2015 records clearly mentioned KCR misled the house. On that day I was thrown out of the house with Marshals in the Assembly. BRS government boasted about Solar power generation in Telangana. The fact is that private companies are generating solar energy. The government is generating only one Mega Watt. They also showed their ‘intelligence’ in awarding contract works of electro-mechanical and civil work contracts. The entire works were given to BHEL. From BHEL, the civil works were given to binami, relatives and followers.”
“Tenders were called for a 2400 MW supercritical power plant. Korean company, BHEL and another company submitted biddings. BHEL secured works for 18 per cent less. Though there is a possibility of awarding works for 18 per cent less, the project was handed over to BHEL for nomination. A scam of around Rs 8,000 crore took place in awarding works,” he emphasised.
