Scores of political, social activists join BJP in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 14 (PTI) Scores of political and social activists, including several former workers of the National Conference and the Congress, on Tuesday joined the BJP here, a party spokesman said.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina welcomed the new entrants, mostly from areas like Nagrota and Jammu north, into the party fold.
J-K BJP unit vice president Sham Lal Sharma and former legislator Devender Singh Rana were present on the occasion, the spokesman said.
He said prominent among those who joined the party include president of Brick Kiln Association, Jammu, Vibhishan Singh, former sarpanch Mohammad Sadiq, Captain (retd) Rafiq Mohd and naib sarpanch Rattan Singh.
“The joining of hundreds of prominent persons is a reflection of the mood of the people who are happy with the policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government that have benefited everyone irrespective of region or religion,” Raina said.
He said the end of the culture of stone pelting and hartal calls has given way to prosperity and everyone is willing to work together for a peaceful society.
The BJP leader asked the new entrants to work wholeheartedly so that the party could sweep the next assembly elections in the region.
