Second round of Training for Micro Observers held at GDC Shopian
General Observer Shopian underscores crucial role of training in elections, listens to queries
SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 14: The District Election Office, Shopian organized the second round of training for Micro Observers at the Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian.
These Micro-observers are set to be deployed for poll day duties across the two assembly constituencies of 36-Zainapora AC and 37-Shopian AC.
The training was conducted in two sessions under the supervision of Nodal Officer, Dr. Gulzar Bin Rehman and District Level Master Trainers. Micro Observers were briefed about their critical responsibilities on Election Day.
General Election Observer for 37- Shopian, Roohi Khan addressed the Micro Observers, highlighting their essential role as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Election Commission of India and stressed that their duties range from monitoring polling station preparations to overseeing mock poll procedures and reporting post-poll findings.
During the session, Khan responded to queries from the Micro Observers, especially regarding the 18-point report they are required to submit for each polling station.
District Election Officer, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar emphasized the need for diligence, urging Micro Observers to remain vigilant during the polling process to ensure free and fair elections.
A total of 194 Micro Observers have been deployed across 251 polling stations, with 51 kept in reserve. Out of these, 91 will oversee polling in the 37-Shopian constituency, while 103 will monitor the 36-Zainapora constituency.
