Secretary Health visits Kupwara; Reviews progress of health sector, felicitates DNB students
KUPWARA, DECEMBER 23: Secretary Health and Medical Education, Bupinder Kumar, today visited Kupwara to review progress of healthcare sector in the district.
In this regard, Secretary chaired a review meeting which was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray; Director Health Services, Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather; Divisional Nodal Officer, Dr. Mehta, SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas, Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Teli, Principal Training School Dobiwan Tangmarg, Superintendent of District Hospital Handwara/SDH Kupwara, BMOs besides DDC members of Rajwar/Nutnussa and other concerned officials.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary appreciated the district administration Kupwara and health functionaries for a notable improvement in overall performance of health sector in the district especially managing the Covid-19 crisis effectively. He also complimented the CMO and Medical Superintendents for working hard and getting the DNB programme started in the major hospitals of the district. He said that we are committed to strengthen the hospitals more and more in terms of faculty and quality education besides other essential amenities to boost the healt care scenario in the district.
Referring to GMC Handwara, Secretary was informed that work on the Medical College Handwara has already started and advertisement for recruitment of the faculty has also been issued.
Regarding screening of non-communicable diseases, Secretary directed all the concerned officers to start work on early detection of non-communicable diseases in the district.
DC expressed gratitude towards the Secretary for taking special interest in augmentation of health facilities in far flung Kupwara district.
Director Health Services Kashmir highlighted the achievements of health department in the district.
Later, Secretary felicitated the students of Diplomat of National Board (DNB) programme.
On the occasion, Secretary felicitated the 10 students who have got enrolled in the DNB programme in District Hospital Handwara and Sub District Hospital Kupwara.
