Secretary H&ME launches campaign at LD Hospital, Srinagar
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01: Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Bhupinder Kumar, today kick started “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath” campaign under the aegis of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign from Government Lalla Ded Hospital, Srinagar .
Bhupinder Kumar said that as part of Swachh Bharat Mission mandate, it is imperative for all the hospitals across the Union Territory to be well maintained and cleaned, in order to move towards achieving goal of a healthy, unpolluted environment vital for providing quality healthcare services.
Secretary had an extensive round of the hospital during which he interacted with the Safai Karamcharis and the public. He appreciated the role of safai karamcharis saying that they are backbone of the society specifically for healthcare institutions. He emphasized upon the hospital staff to perform their routine task of cleanliness as ‘Seva’ rather than duty only. He mentioned that Health & Medical Education Department is implementing,” KAYAKALP” initiative under National Health Mission in every public health facility ensuring cleanliness and hospital upkeep resulting in massive transformation of Public Healthcare Facilities.
Pertinently, ahead of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has made a clarion call to citizens of the country to participate in the mega cleanliness drive on October 1. In the 105th edition of Mann Ki Baat, a monthly radio programme, PM Modi informed about the cleanliness-related programs being planned across the country on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr Tanveer Masood, State Nodal Officer, NHM, J&K, Dr Mohammad Shafi Koka, Medical Superintendent Governemnt Lalla Ded Hospital Srinagar, Head of Departments and senior officers, faculty from GMC Srinagar besides officers from State Health Society, National Health Mission, J&K were present on the occasion.
