Secretary Sports Council reviews calendar of activities for 2023-24

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: In order to kick-start the activities in the current financial year in J&K, Nuzhat Gull, Secretary J&K Sports Council today chaired a meeting in her office chamber, here.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary informed that with the mission to maximize the reach of sports activities across J&K, several sports activities under the banner of different sports verticals like My Youth My Pride Phase 3, Har Din Khel Har Ek Kay liye Khel, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, FIT India Golden Age Campaign, Para Athlete Sport etc, Khelo India Centres, In-House Academies, Activities in Rural, Sensitive & Border areas were held. 

Discussing the modalities regarding preparations to kick-start the sports activities in J&K, Secretary Sports Council apprised that the digitisation of the website for registration of participating athletes is in final stages and it shall be launched soon which includes all major details about the athletes and to keep a track of the progress of each so that the prospective talent is showcased at the right platform and its progression over the years is not only tracked but monitored too.

She also asked the attendees to prepare a separate programme especially for the children enrolled in both government and private schools.

Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat Farooq impressed upon the need for procurement of game related equipments well in time. 

Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu Ashok Singh Jamwal who attended the meeting through the virtual mode said that calendar of sports activities for Jammu division is in final stages and shall be finalised within two days. 

Stressing upon the need for close coordination with all recognised sports associations, Secretary Sports Council asked Divisional Sports Officer J, K & C to Coordinate with all the recognised association to prepare and submit the calendar of activities 2023-24 within two days to which all the officers responded in affirmative.

The advent of leagues in various sports disciplines was taken into consideration and accordingly the formats and fixtures were discussed covering both genders and expanding scope to rural all possible niche of the J&K.  

The plan to celebrate important days of national and sports importance systematically all through the year was also discussed.

The Secretary Sports Council also informed that Khelo India Centre of Centres shall hold competitions among themselves to estimate the progress of each athlete and similar plans shall be applied to inhouse Sports Council academies of football, water sports and cricket for tapping new talent across the J&K and keep a special provision for talented children from the marginalised background and also ensure their reach to far-flung areas of the union territory.
