Takes stock of the punctuality of field staff, functioning of Panchayat

‘Action being initiated against officials leaving field/office before notified closing time’

SAMBA, DECEMBER 12: Secretary, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR), Mohammad Aijaz Asad, conducted a surprise visit to Samba district to check the punctuality of field and office staff.

During the visit, Aijaz Asad contacted officials who were supposed to be in the field during duty hours. A few officials were found to have left the fieldwork before the close of office hours. Action under rules is being initiated against such officials.

Accompanied by Additional Secretary, Waseem Raja, the Secretary also inspected multiple ongoing works in Block Bari Brahmana, focusing on Capex works in Panchayats Birpur Lower and Kartholi Lower.

During the visit, the Secretary evaluated the implementation of the schemes to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with stipulated timelines.

Aijaz Asad directed officials to ensure that the works meet their deadlines and maintain high standards of execution.

During the visit, he reviewed the progress and parameters of various ongoing schemes, including MGNREGA, PMAY-G, SBM-G, as well as the construction and status of Panchayat Ghars.

The Secretary directed officials to expedite the execution of projects under MGNREGA to ensure they are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Aijaz Asad also highlighted the importance of projects under MGNREGA in providing sustainable employment to rural households and stressed the need for their effective implementation to benefit the local populace.

The secretary also urged officials to fast-track the construction of houses for eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-G.

He directed officials to ensure that beneficiaries receive the allocated support without delays and to address any grievances promptly.

The Secretary also assessed the progress of SBM-G in the district and emphasized the importance of enhanced sanitation measures, including regular cleaning and waste management. He directed officials to establish effective plastic waste management systems for proper disposal and recycling.

Aijaz Asad instructed the implementation of a systematic door-to-door waste collection mechanism to improve overall cleanliness in rural areas.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Samba, Mehmood Riaz, briefed about the various development projects underway in the district.
