Shaleen Kabra, IAS Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Jal Shakti Department Visit at Indo-Pak Border area’s  of District Kathua

Kathua: Today on 29.11.2023, Sh. Shaleen Kabra, IAS  Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary ), Jal Shakti Department, J&K (UT), along with Dr. Rakesh Minhas IAS District Development Commissioner, Kathua and Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua visited B.O.P Chak Changa Post to see Wheat Crop sown across zero line at International Indo-Pak border of Hiranagar sector during Rabi 2023-24. 

Sh. Shaleen Kabra, IAS appreciated the efforts of District Administration, Border Security Force and especially to Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Kathua to motivating the farmers of adjoining villages whose abandoned land across the fence of Indo-Pak border has come under the cultivation. He assured farming community of all possible help to make sowing of Wheat crop a success and Government will continues its support to the farmers of border areas for sowing of seasonal crops at Indo-Pak border across the fence in every year. He also directed to District Administration Kathua, Border Security Force and Department of Agriculture Production and FW, Kathua to work in coordination with farmers to facilitate safe and secure sowing of wheat crop across the fence. He also interact with local farmers upon his visit.  

Dr. Rakesh Minhas IAS, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, praised the initiative taken by the Department of Agriculture Production and farmers Welfare Kathua in pursuing the wheat Crop sowing for the consecutive season, simultaneously assuring every help and Border Security Force upon assuring safe farming to farmers of the area.

Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua said, it’s a pleasure moment for border area’s farmer, as they properly utilized their abandoned land with assured regular and timely technical support from Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kathua. This year department has set the target of wheat sowing 300 Acres of land during Rabi 2023-24 across the fence and till date 270 acres of land has been sown. For effective sowing of crops and bring more vacant land under cultivation along Indo-Pak international border to across the fence,  Department of Agriculture Kathua has provided farm machinery such as Tractor, Cultivator to the farmers actually involved in border sowing. He also said “We are encouraging farmers to use mechanized methods for effective sowing of wheat crop by using Super Seeder.

Sh. Karan Attri, DDC Member, (Marheen)  and Sh. Ashok Sharma (Naib Sarpanch Gopala Chak) also thanked Department of Agriculture for its unceasing support and appealed farming community to liaison with the Department of Agriculture, Kathua for better outcome. 

Besides, Sh. Murari lal, District Agriculture Officer (Ext.), Kathua, Sh. Ashwani Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Dayalachak, Sh. Jamshed Andotra, (AEO-Marheen), Sh. Narayan Singh (JAEO), Sh. Rajesh Sharma (JAEO), Sh. Sanjay Singh (AEA), Sh. Arun Sharma (AEA),  were also present on the spot.
