SHD Bandipora organises Awareness camp at Shahgund, Hajin
BANDIPORA, JANUARY 27: The Sheep Husbandry Department (SHD) Bandipora on Friday organised a mass awareness cum fodder seed distribution camp at village Shahgund of Block Hajin.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of the sheep farmers of Shahgund and adjoining villages.
The program was chaired by SDO Hajin, Dr Nuzhat wali.
Dr Nuzhat impressed upon the farmers to avail the opportunities in the food processing sector besides taking up livestock farming on modern lines. She also offered skill development training in shearing and basic veterinary Healthcare services to the farmers of uncovered areas.
She apprised the participants about the recently launched Artificial insemination program in Goats in Bandipora and assured setting up of one such unit in Hajin soon which will have a positive impact on Goat rearing in Shahgund village.
Speaking on the occasion, VAS Hajin, Dr Irfan Hassan apprised farmers about the scientific/ profitable management and rearing of livestock.
He also deliberated in depth about the recently launched Holistic Agriculture Development programme (HADP) of the UT Government for upgrading the infrastructure of Agriculture and allied sectors and to make them more remunerative.
The audience was made aware about the various projects under HADP and the potential of such projects in modernizing the livestock sector and multiplying the income of farmers.
The program concluded with distribution of insurance policy certificates under NLM and rye grass seed kits among the beneficiaries.
