Sheep Husbandry Department organises series of capacity building programmes in Udhampur district
UDHAMPUR, MARCH 07: Department of Sheep Husbandry Udhampur today organized four Capacity Building awareness camps for farmers/self help groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producers organizations (FPOs) under Wool and Pelt project of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme- HADP.
The camps were held at Block Head quarter Panchari, Chenani, Ramnagar and District Sheep Husbandry Office Complex Udhampur .
District Sheep Husbandry Officer , Dr. Farhat Bashir, delivered lecture and advised the sheep/goat farmers to avail the benefits of ongoing departmental schemes particularly Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for enhancing their Socio economic status .
More than 400 Sheep farmers, breeders, SHGs, FPO members participated in the camps who were educated about departmental schemes and techniques by delivering lecture , depicting banners and posters and by distribution of resource material.
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon of different blocks of District Udhampur attended the camps and educated the farmers regarding latest Sheep Husbandry Practices including Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer Technology and urged the participants to avail the benefit of various schemes being implemented by the Department. The farmers lauded the role of Department in organizing such awareness camps and demanded more camps to be organized in far flung areas for the benefit of General Public particularly Gujjars, Bakarwals and Gaddies. The participants were provided with pamphlets, Medicine kits and refreshment during the above mentioned camps.
