Sheetal Nanda distributes blankets, domestic items at Gandhi Nagar
Red Cross, Mahajan Sabha organize day-long distribution-cum-awareness camp
JAMMU, February 19: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, today reaffirmed government’s resolve of supporting and facilitating the destitute and down trodden segments of the society.
She stated this while addressing a gathering during a relief distribution-cum-awareness camp at Mehr Chand Mahajan Park, Gandhi Nagar, organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu district in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and Mahajan Sabha.
Commissioner Secretary said that the government has established a number of help lines for senior citizens, women, people with special needs, children and others in distress to address their issues in a speedy manner.
On the occasion, Commissioner Secretary distributed woolen blankets, medicines, other medical aids, school bags and other domestic items among the poor and needy.
Various officers from Social Welfare Department and NGOs elaborately explained about several welfare schemes of SWD and Red Cross Society tailored for welfare of people in need.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Patron Mahajan Sabha, Jugal Mahajan, explained activities of the organization and said that service to the poor and needy people has been the objective of the organization.
Mission Director, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti, Harvinder Kour, Former IAS officer, K B Jandyal, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, noted columnist, Ravi Rohmetra, social activists and people from all walks of life were present on the occasion.
