Sheikh Fayaz convenes mega public darbar at Handwara, assesses public grievances
HANDWARA, FEBRUARY 16: Commissioner Secretary, Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, today chaired a mega public darbar here to assess public grievances and demands under the ambitious public outreach cum grievances redressal programme of the government.
District Development Council member Mawar, DDC member Nutnoosa, President Traders Federation Handwara and locals attended the event and projected several issues concerning welfare and development of their respective areas.
ADC Kupwara, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, ACD Kupwara, ACP Kupwara and other senior officers of civil administration and police were present in the public outreach program to record the public grievances and demands so that remedial measures are initiated accordingly.
The public darbar witnessed overwhelming response from the public who thronged the programme from various areas of Handwara to raise their issues and concerns for redressal. The participating delegations and general public projected several demands and grievances pertaining to their respective regions, encompassing both developmental and administrative concerns that need immediate attention of the government.
Some of the major development issues included construction of public park near Degree College Handwara for which 32 Kanal of land has already been identified, construction of lavatory block near children’s Park at Handwara, recreational Park at Bagatpora on Bungas road for which 200 kanal of land is available, functioning of slaughter house, Tribal Sub Plan for tribal villages, development of Saranwali Moanbal as tourist spot, release of second and third instalments of PMAY (G) and wages under MGNREGA.
While highlighting the importance of holding these public darbars, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad said that these events act as a bridge between the administration and the people where senior government functionaries connect with the people on rotation basis. This facilitate the participants to get their grievances redressed through these public outreach programmes besides enabling them establish a strong rapport with the officials for effective implementation of government schemes in their respective areas.
The Commissioner Secretary assured all the individuals and delegations that the grievances and demands projected by them would be redressed on priority after being taken up with the appropriate authorities. He impressed upon the concerned officers to adopt a proactive and people friendly approach in delivering prompt public services.
DDC Member Mawar, Khurshid Ahmad Dar, DDC Member Nutnoosa advocate Zahoor Ahmad and President Traders Federation Handwara, Aijaz Ahmad Sofi, while highlighting issues of diverse nature faced by the public, expressed their gratitude to the UT government for organizing this ambitious programme in Handwara.
Earlier, ADC Kupwara, Muhammad Rouf Rehman, presented developmental scenario of Kupwara district.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Secretary also e-inaugurated development projects including newly constructed entry gate for Smart Village Shehlal, macadamisation of road and washrooms at Government High School Payerpora. He also participated in a plantation drive.
The people, while expressing gratitude to the district administration, said that such public outreach programs provide them an opportunity to voice their grievances and developmental issues for redressal through the appropriate channels.
