Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, and Suneil Shetty applaud PM Narendra Modi’s decision to honour Param Vir Chakra awardees by naming 21 Andaman islands after them
On the occasion of Parakram Diwas, 21 of the largest unnamed islands in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands were named by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in honour of 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees. Bollywood actors Siddharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn and Suneil Shetty, who have played Param Vir Chakra awardees in films, lauded the government’s efforts.
Shershah movie actor Sidharth Malhotra was happy to live the role of Vikram Batra in the film and tweeted, “The very news that an island in Andaman & Nicobar is named after our hero Capt. Vikram Batra leaves me with goosebumps! My heart swells with pride that I was fortunate to live his role on screen. This step taken by PM @narendramodi ensures that Shershaah lives on forever.”
LOC: Kargil starrer Ajay Devgn played the role of Capt. Manoj Kumar Pandey in the film. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his wise decision and said his supreme sacrifice for the motherland will inspire the coming generations. He wrote, “The decision to name an island after Capt. Manoj Kumar Pandey (Param Vir Chakra) is assuring that the example of supreme sacrifice for the motherland he left us with will continue to inspire generations to come. Thank you PM @narendramodiJi.”
